Keith Pershall graduated from Stanford University with a B.A. in Economics, the University of Santa Clara with a Juris Doctorate and the University of the Pacific, McGeorge School of Law with an LLM in Transactional Business Practice. Along with practicing with the Burton Law Firm, Keith has ran his own law practice since 2006, was an associate with a 140-lawyer firm in Houston, Texas and was a partner with Downey Brand in Sacramento, California where he served on the firm’s Executive Committee and chaired the Business Department, the Tax Practice Group and the firm’s Third Party Legal Opinions Committee.

Mr. Pershall is licensed to practice by the California State Bar, the Texas State Bar, the Washington State Bar, U.S. Tax Court, U.S. District Court, U.S. Court of Federal Claims and the United States Supreme Court. He has lectured in the U.S. and abroad including in Copenhagen, Guangzhou, Salzburg, Taipei and Vienna on a broad range of tax and international topics including, Tax Aspects of Investing & Doing Business in the U.S., Disclosures of Foreign Financial Accounts (FBARs), U.S Taxation on Expatriation and the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act. He is fluent in both English and German.

Keith is an adjunct professor for the University of the Pacific, McGeorge School of Law, where he also serves on the International Board of Advisors. Keith’s focus at The Burton Law Firm is in the areas of International Law, Tax Law, Contract and Business Law, and Trusts and Estates.

Keith is A.V. Rated by Martindale Hubbell and has been rated a “Top Lawyer” by Sacramento Magazine in 2018 and 2019.
