Preston Marx offers over 25 years of legal experience, with particular focus in the areas of Estate Planning and related Tax Planning, Post-Death Trust Administration and Probate, Trust Ligation, Commercial and Intellectual Property Litigation, Wage and Hour Law, and Employment Litigation. Preston is a Certified Specialist in Estate Planning, Trust and Probate Law by the State Bar of California Board of Legal Specialization. Preston works in the Estate Planning and Trust Administration department and provides support to our litigation department as to trust and estate litigation.

Mr. Marx graduated Summa Cum Laude from Tulane University with a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science (Departmental Honors) and was inducted into Phi Beta Kappa while at Tulane. He received his Juris Doctor from Louisiana State University and was admitted to the Louisiana Bar in 1994. Mr. Marx was admitted to the California State Bar in 2002. He relocated to Placer County in 2010 after residing in the Santa Barbara area for
17 years. While in Southern California, he was a sole practitioner and a founding partner of Berger and Marx, LLP. He has litigated in Santa Barbara, Ventura, Kern, and Los Angeles Superior Courts, in addition to the United States District Court for the Central District of California. He has conducted continuing education courses on internet legal research throughout the United States; has taught at the Southern California Institute of Law for 25 years; and served as college intern for the United States Attorney’s Office in New Orleans, Louisiana.

Preston has served on the following non-profit boards: The Auburn Rotary (current), the Auburn Bethlehem Lutheran Church Council, the Placer County Law Library Board of Trustees (current), the California Capital Air Show (former), the Auburn Symphony (former), the Auburn Chamber of Commerce, and the Skyridge Elementary School PTC, the Santa Barbara County Bar Board of Directors (former), the Santa Barbara Women Lawyers (former), Sarah House (AIDS Hospice) (former), the Carpinteria Valley Chamber of Commerce (former) and the California Avocado Festival (former). He is co-founder of the Auburn Acoustic Guitar Festival in conjunction with the Auburn Recreation District.

Preston Marx was born in New Orleans, Louisiana. He has lived in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Bristol, England and Santa Barbara, California. He is married and has two children. Preston is a member of the Auburn Rotary Club and enjoys playing guitar, bass and keyboards in various bands. He is also an avid vintage guitar and classic car enthusiast having recently completed a stock 1958 Ford Edsel with his father.
